Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
Alpine Studio is a web design and development studio based in Queenstown, New Zealand. We operate this website at alpinestudio.co.nz and provide web design, development, SEO, and ongoing maintenance services to New Zealand businesses.
For any privacy-related questions, contact us at sales@alpinestudio.co.nz.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information only when you provide it directly to us. This occurs primarily when you submit the contact form on this website. The information collected includes:
- Your name
- Email address
- Phone number (optional)
- Details about your project or enquiry
We also automatically collect limited technical data when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and time spent on each page. This data is collected via Google Analytics 4 (see Section 4).
Free website audit
If you use our free website audit at alpinestudio.co.nz/audit, we record:
- The website address you entered, and the scores and findings the audit produced
- The country your request came from
- The date and time the audit ran
We do not store your IP address against an audit. You do not need to give us an email address or any other detail to run an audit or to read your results in full. If you then choose to ask us to walk you through the report, the name, email address, phone number and business name you give us are recorded alongside that audit so we can reply to you.
The audit only reads the website address you give us, in the same way a search engine does. It does not change anything on that site and does not submit anything to it. Please only run it on a website you own or are responsible for.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiry and discuss your project
- Provide our web design, development, and maintenance services
- Send project updates and communicate about ongoing work
- Improve our website and understand how visitors use it (via analytics)
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
Google Analytics 4
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. GA4 collects data such as pages visited, time on site, browser and device type, and approximate location (country/region level). This data is processed by Google LLC and may be stored on servers outside New Zealand.
GA4 uses cookies (including _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors. These cookies persist for up to 2 years. You can opt out of GA4 tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Web3Forms
Our contact form is processed by Web3Forms (web3forms.com). When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, phone number, and message are transmitted to Web3Forms' servers and then forwarded to our email inbox. Web3Forms does not store your submission data beyond the delivery of the email notification. For more information, see the Web3Forms Privacy Policy.
Google PageSpeed Insights
The speed section of our free website audit is measured by Google's PageSpeed Insights API. When you run an audit, the website address you entered is sent to Google so it can load and measure that page. No personal information is sent with it. This data is processed by Google LLC and may be stored on servers outside New Zealand.
Cloudflare
This website is hosted on Cloudflare's global edge network. Cloudflare processes network requests and may log limited technical data (IP address, request metadata) for security and performance purposes. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies
This website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use the following types:
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics, distinguishes users | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics, stores session state | 2 years |
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect website functionality. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, and receive warnings before a cookie is stored.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law:
- Enquiry emails: retained for 2 years from receipt, then deleted
- Client project files and communications: retained for 5 years from project completion
- Google Analytics data: retained for 14 months (as configured in our GA4 property)
- Free website audit reports: the full report is kept for 30 days so the link to it keeps working, then deleted automatically
- Free website audit records: the address audited, the scores, and any contact details you chose to give us are retained for 2 years, then deleted
7. Your Rights Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of personal information that is inaccurate or out of date
- Ask us to stop using your personal information for certain purposes
- Make a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner if you believe we have breached your privacy rights
To exercise any of these rights, email us at sales@alpinestudio.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure. Our website is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption. Contact form data is transmitted securely to Web3Forms via encrypted API calls. We do not store payment information. All payment-related transactions are handled by the client directly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
