One mobile speed test each for Queenstown and Frankton business websites: the results, how we did it, and what the numbers do not show.

Quick answer

We tested 658 Queenstown and Frankton business websites on Google’s mobile speed score in August 2026. The median score was 55 out of 100. 239 sites (36%) scored under 50, the poor band, and 25 (4%) scored 90 or above, the good band.

Most sites landed in the middle: 394 of them (60%) scored between 50 and 89, which Google labels needs improvement. About half of all sites scored between 43 and 66.

How we tested

  • The test: one mobile test per website through Google PageSpeed Insights, reading its performance score out of 100.
  • The sites: businesses listed on Google Maps or OpenStreetMap with a Queenstown or Frankton address and a website on the listing.
  • When: 14 to 26 August 2026, New Zealand time.
  • Counting: each website counts once. A www address and the same address without it are one site, and where a site was tested more than once in that period, the first test on record counts.

What the numbers do not show

  • Lab scores move a few points between runs, so any one score is a rough reading.
  • This is one area at one point in time: Queenstown and Frankton in August 2026. It is not a figure for New Zealand.
  • Only listed businesses with a website are in it. Four of the 658 addresses are social media sites rather than a business’s own website. They stay in the count because that is what the listing gave.
  • A speed score measures one page loading on a simulated phone. It says nothing about the quality of a business or its work.

No business is named

No business is named, here or in the data file. This is a picture of the area, not a ranking. To see your own score, use pagespeed.web.dev or our free audit.

The data

Download the scores as a CSV file. It has one column, score, and 658 rows, lowest first. It holds no names, no addresses and no dates.

An earlier version of this figure said 653 sites. It was recounted from the records in October 2026, and every number here comes from that recount.

We plan to run the same test again in August 2027 and publish the new figures here. Why speed matters, and how to fix a slow site, is in our speed guide.
